Whenever it’s on, the Megacrystal® automatically converts electrical impulses into ultrasound at the therapeutic 1.6MHz frequency used in advanced medical devices, allowing for truly ultrasonic brushing and truly ultrasonic tongue cleaning, something no other brush offers. Ultrasound is generated by a 17mm Megacrystal® embedded into the tip of the brush with great precision by master technicians using a highly advanced process to maximise wave propagation and enable precise directionality. Unlike other toothbrushes with disposable ultrasound transducers, the high-quality Megacrystal® is designed to last for life.

Combining the advantages of ultrasound with the extra benefits of sonic vibration, the toothbrush also includes an oscillating vibrator motor with variable speed options to supplement the ultrasound: 18,000 vibrating movements per minute (150Hz), comparable to a sonic toothbrush from the leading brands; 9,000 movements per minute (75Hz) for a gentler experience, comparable to a low intensity power toothbrush or, for the gentlest experience, pure ultrasound with no sonic movement at all, so it feels like and functions as a manual toothbrush, only with the incredible cleaning power of ultrasound.

In contrast to a sonic toothbrush or other conventional electric toothbrushes, an ultrasonic toothbrush does not need to rely solely on the brute force of mechanical scrubbing. Since the ultrasound has already torn apart the plaque, sonic vibrations are only needed to gently sweep away the debris. This means that even the subtlest sonic action can be effective. The MEGASONEX® toothbrush uses special low-amplitude sonic movements. These minimise the force and length of bristle travel, making for an incredibly gentle brushing experience in comparison with almost any electric toothbrush. Ultrasound is merely a form of acoustic wave making it even more gentle. The amplitude of our ultrasonic pulse is so infinitesimally small that it is completely imperceptible to the human body.

Periodontal diseases including gingivitis and periodontitis, result from plaque bacteria accumulating under the gumline in periodontal pockets, the tight spaces between the teeth and gums where air cannot reach, where harmful anaerobic (oxygen hating) bacteria thrive. In contrast to sonic and electric toothbrushes, which rely on mechanical movement alone to clean teeth, ultrasonic toothbrushes disseminate waves which propagate up to 5mm away (Vandana and Penumatsa 2004, Hashizume and Dariva 2015), extending into areas where bristles cannot reach, including spots where plaque accumulates under the gumline.

The toothbrush charges via USB-C technology, featuring a splashproof USB-C port on the inductive charging base, a professional quality USB-A to USB-C cable and bathroom-safe USB charger, for safe and easy charging when you’re on the go.

Each charging base recharges the toothbrush through inductive charging and, thanks to our unique innovation, the power input of the charging dock is restricted to a harmless 12V5V direct current to maximise electrical safety. For added safety, the charger uses marine grade circuitry and features a detachable cord for your convenience.

To minimise dangers of outgassing of phthalates and contact with bisphenol A (BPA), which research (Konieczna et al 2015) has shown can imitate hormones in the body and disrupt the endocrine system, potentially causing serious side effects including cancer (Ibid.), issues during pregnancy (Pergialiotis et al 2017) and with infant development, we have constructed a brush with an exterior that is absolutely free from these materials. For maximum durability, the handle is formed exclusively out of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), a premium quality polymer, while the brush heads are crafted out of pure food grade PP (polypropylene) plastic, a soft plastic commonly used in BPA-free baby bottles.
